Federal grants from HOME and CDBG supplied $1 million of the $1.6 million project budget. Strong community support for the program and the new shelter aided in most of the fundraising. The remaining funding was provided by smaller granting agencies and local contributions. The collaborative design sessions garnered input from staff, former residents, neighbors, and directors from other community non-profits. The project received the 2007 Award of Distinction from the Lewis & Clark County Historic Preservation Commission for new construction within a historic district.
