Features
Modern Medical Education Simulators
Simulation labs foster a holistic approach to nursing education, allowing students to practice patient assessment, diagnostics and treatment in realistic simulations, without putting live patients at risk. Housed on the fourth floor of Simperman Hall, the new facilities include a Simulation Lab which replicates a variety of patient settings, a Skills Lab with hospital bed stations, and an Assessment Lab with clinic-style exam table stations. Each lab includes headwalls, equipment, cabinetry, sinks and storage as required for each function, and a breakout area for twelve students.
A central observation room allows direct visual observation, vocal communication, and computer monitoring of students’ work with sophisticated patient simulation mannequins. New support spaces include a 25-student classroom, debriefing rooms, a holistic lab, a new break room, and additional faculty offices. Casual, collaborative gathering spaces outside the labs encourage student interaction. Mechanical infrastructure was also upgraded to assure the space functions efficiently for many years to come.
